Mars Hill’s Simmons Named As National Defensive Player of Week

Colby Simmons was selected by D2Football.com and Don Hansen's Football Gazette as the National Defensive Player of the Week.

Simmons was a one man wrecking crew in Mar Hills' 47-13 win over Virginia-Wise. A senior linebacker, Simmons totalled 15 tackles in the game, 11 which were solo tackles. He also notched two tackles for a loss of 14 yards and three sacks for a loss of 14 yards in addition to a quarterback hurry. He was part of a MHC defense that held Virginia-Wise to 57 yards rushing. For his effort, Colby Simmons is the Pizza Hut Defensive Player of the Week.

Simmons was also selected as the SAC Defensive Player of the Week.
