On Saturday, Good provided 236 of Carson-Newman's 412 yards of total offense as the number seven Eagles defeated Mars Hill College 49-28 in a big SAC road contest. A 6-0, 180-pound quarterback from Southern Guilford High School, Good rushed 18 times for 176 yards and one touchdown.
Good scored the Eagles' first touchdown with a 40-yard TD scamper in the first quarter. In the passing department, he was two-of-five for 60 yards and one interception. Good leads Carson-Newman in total offense with 143.5 yards per game.
Jeremy Thompson recorded a team-best 11 tackles in Tusculum's 31-16 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne. A 6-0, 200-pound native of Rome, Ga., Thompson posted six solo hits, including a sack that caused a fumble early in the fourth quarter with the Pioneers clinging to a 24-16 lead.
The Rome High product also added a pass break-up and quarterback hurry. Last week's SAC Defensive Player of the Week, Thompson has accounted for 40 tackles this season. His 40 total stops place Thompson second on the Tusculum defensive charts.
John Gregory averaged 48.2 yards on his five punts in the Pioneers' victory over the Bears. A 6-2, 220-pound native of Ooltewah, Tenn., Gregory booted two punts over 50 yards. His ledger included a career-long 76-yarder, the longest punt in the league this season.
A preseason All-American, Gregory is averaging 41 yards per punt this season. He is second on the SAC punting charts this year. Thanks to his big boot versus Lenoir-Rhyne, Gregory possesses the third-longest punt in TC school history. The Ooltewah High School graduate was an All-SAC first team selection last year.
The SAC Football Players of the Week are selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
