Brevard Sweeps SAC Football Weekly Awards
ROCK HILL, S.C. - On the heels of a thrilling 38-35 overtime victory against Johnson C. Smith on Saturday, a trio of Brevard student-athletes took home the SAC's weekly awards, league officials announced on Monday.

BC fullback Derek Church was named the Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 161 yards on 29 carries on Saturday. He also tallied four receptions for 35 yards -- including a game-tying touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter that ultimately forced overtime.
Church's performance also included a 64-yard run -- the longest of any player in the SAC this season.
Defensive Player of the Week honors went to Brevard's Richard Ray. The senior defensive lineman was all over the field on Saturday, recording seven tackles, 1.5 sacks and a pass breakup. He now has 3.5 sacks on the season.
Finally, the Tornados' Austin Clark was named Special Teams Player of the Week. The freshman kicker connected on all five PATs, and more importantly, booted the game-winning field goal in overtime. He also averaged 57.7 yards per kickoff attempt in the contest.
