Reese broke a Brevard record with five rushing touchdowns -- one
shy of the all-time SAC mark -- as he led the Tornados to their
first league victory of the season over Tusculum. He finished with
19 rushes for 153 yards, averaging 8.1 yards-per-carry. He also
went 5-for-8 passing for 90 yards.
Randolph, meanwhile, had arguably his best game of an already
stellar season, rushing for a season-high 220 yards in Mars Hill's
victory over Newberry. He leads the SAC in rushing, all-purpose
yards and scoring.
Taylor had a career game Saturday, as Wingate bolted to a 20-0 lead
and withstood a Carson-Newman rally to win, 33-21. Taylor had 10
tackles, including 5.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also forced a
fumble as the Bulldogs defeated C-N in Wingate for the first time
in school history.
Gist returned three kickoffs for 143 yards, including a 94-yard touchdown in Tusculum's loss at Brevard.
His touchdown return, which came on the game's opening kickoff, was the longest in school history. It was the senior's third-career return touchdown. The 2010 All-American is averaging 39.3 yards per return on kickoffs this season.
