SAC Football Lands 11 on BSN All-America Team
11 South Atlantic Conference football players were named to the Beyond Sports Network All-America Team on Friday, led by First Team running back selection and Offensive Player of the Year Jonas Randolph from Mars Hill.
LEESBURG, Va. - 11 South Atlantic Conference football players were named to the Beyond Sports Network All-America Team on Friday, led by First Team running back selection and Offensive Player of the Year Jonas Randolph from Mars Hill.
Randolph, whose impressive list of accolades following a record-breaking 2011 season includes the prestigious Harlon Hill Trophy, led Mars Hill to a share of the SAC Championship and the school's first NCAA Division II Championship berth in program history.
Three SAC players were named to the Second Team, including offensive lineman Chandler Rearden and punt returner Michael Green from co-SAC champion Lenoir-Rhyne.
Also earning a spot on the Second Team was Tucsculum long snapper Skylar West.
Rearden and West were both first team All-SAC selections, while Green earned second-team All-Conference accolades.
The SAC had three named to the BSN All-America Third Team in Brevard offensive lineman Caleb Campbell, Mars Hill offensive lineman Tyler Hodgson and Newberry linebacker Apollo Stretch.
They are joined by Honorable Mention selections Brandon Martin, a defensive lineman from Lenoir-Rhyne, Mars Hill defensive lineman Troy Harris, Wingate quarterback Cody Haffly and Tusculum kick returner Deonte Gist.
