ROCK HILL, S.C. – Newberry quarterback W.T. Murden and defensive lineman Alstevis Squirewell and Carson-Newman kicker Curt Duncan have been named the SAC football Players of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Murden, the SAC Offensive Player of the Week, led undefeated Newberry to a key early-season conference win over previously-unbeaten Catawba by throwing for 331 yards and four touchdowns. His day included a 61-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter after Catawba had built a 14-point halftime lead.
