Newberry’s Payton Keeler Named Division II Field Hockey Elite Scholar-Athlete
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Newberry's Elite 23 award winner Payton Keeler has earned national recognition as the Division II Field Hockey Elite Scholar-Athlete, given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA among all players competing at the NCAA Championship finals site.
Keeler, a junior pursuing her Physical Education Teacher Certification, carries a perfect 4.00 GPA through 89 credit hours at Newberry. She represents Newberry as the top academic performer among the final four teams at the national championship.
Keeler's academic record pairs with an impressive season on the field. She was named First Team All-Conference and played a major role in leading Newberry to the SAC regular season title, the SAC tournament championship, and the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
This national honor adds another milestone to a standout year for both Keeler and the Wolves.
