Catawba’s Rob Fields Named Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba College's Rob Fields has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.
Fields, a junior guard from Orangeburg, S.C., averaged 18.0 points and shot 89 percent (16-of-18) from the free throw line in leading Catawba to a 3-0 mark last week with victories over St. Augustine's (86-83), Bowie State (87-70) and No. 5 Northern Kentucky (86-81).

In the OrthoCarolina Classic in Wingate, N.C., over the weekend, the Orangeburg-Wilkerson High School graduate scored 20 points against Bowie State on Saturday before notching 17 points in the victory versus Northern Kentucky Sunday. Fields hit a key three-pointer down the stretch and a jumper with 28 seconds remaining in the upset win over the Norse.
Catawba is now 6-0 on the year and ranked No. 23 in the NABC NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll.
Fields is averaging 15.7 points per contest so far this year.
