Catawba’s Antonio Houston Named Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba College's Antonio Houston has been named South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today. Houston wins the award for the second time this year.
Houston, a junior guard from Charlotte, N.C., averaged 24.5 points and eight rebounds in leading Catawba to a 2-0 week with South Atlantic Conference wins over Wingate (97-90) on the road Wednesday and Tusculum (67-64) Saturday at home.
Houston scored a season-high 31 points on 10-of-16 shooting to
go along with seven rebounds in the road victory against the
Bulldogs before tallying 18 points and nine rebounds in the close
win against the Pioneers.
Houston also gave Catawba the lead twice in the final minute
against Tusculum with a jump shot with 51 seconds left and a pair
of game-winning free throws with 17 seconds remaining.
Houston leads first-place Catawba (11-3, 3-0) in scoring (19.7 ppg) and rebounding (5.6 rpg) this year.
The SAC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week is voted on by the league's sports information directors.
