of Catawba College on Wednesday evening, but the Indians came back
from eight points down at the 9:44 mark and took the lead for good
with only 44 seconds remaing to escape their second loss of the
year to LMU with a 74-71 win … The Railsplitters and Indians
went toe-to-toe for the majority of the game, with the game tied 10
times and the lead trading hands on 12 occasions … As the

hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Indians a 1-point 42-41
lift going into the intermission … When the second half got
underway, the Railsplitters quickly took the momentum of the game
and captured the lead with 18:56 to play … That lead stood
until Catawba made the late charge and moved ahead with only 44
second remaining in regulation … Despite the loss, LMU's
D'Mario Curry led all players in scoring and rebounding with 21
points and 13 boards … Railsplitter senior Wadner Joseph

led by Rob Fields who came off the bench to score 18 points

ever watch an LMU men's basketball game in the Tex Turner Arena,
the Railsplitter men's basketball team knocked off the Eagles of
Carson-Newman College 73-70 to assure themselves of their first
winning season in conference play since the 2002-03 campaign

rolling around the midway point of the first stanza … Once

breaking them when they tied the game at 62 all … It was the
closest Carson-Newman had been since the opening tip and both teams
realized it was going to be a fight down the stretch to see who
would win … Freshman Brandon Armstrong hit a jumper with
3:55 to play that gave LMU a 64-62 lead. That basket provided the
Railsplitters with a 2-point cushion that helped them stay just out
of the Eagle's reach the remainder of the game and the
Railsplitters eventually escaped with a 73-70 win …
Sophomore D'Mario Curry led LMU with 20 points on 8-10 shooting
from the field while going 4-6 at the free throw line. Freshman

in 28 minutes on the floor … Now 14-12 overall and 8-7 in

their regular season finale with Newberry College next Saturday
night before they find out what seed they will have earned in the
league tournament set for early March … Next Saturday will
