Tusculum’s Kyle Moore Named Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Tusculum College's Kyle Moore has been named the South Atlantic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 13, 2009.
Moore, a senior guard from Gainesville, Fla. (Winthrop Univ.) averaged 21 points per game to lead the Pioneers to a 2-1 record last week. The Pioneers opened with wins over St. Catharine (61-44) and Lees-McRae (72-50), before falling to undefeated and fourth-ranked Augusta State (79-68) in a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament.
Moore posted his best performance of the week with his 41-point effort over Southeast Region foe Lees-McRae. Moore's 41-point effort is the sixth most ever by a South Atlantic Conference player and tied for seventh in school history. Moore shot 14-of-20 from the field, including a career-best nine 3-pointers. He also tallied six rebounds, while shooting 4-of-5 from the charity stripe.
During the week, Moore shot 19-of-22 from the free throw line
(86.4 percent), including 7-of-7 at the charity stripe against
Augusta State. Moore became the ninth player in school history to
eclipse the 1,300-point plateau. He has recorded 1,341 points in
his three-year career at Tusculum. He is also second all-time in
TC and SAC history in career three-point field goals (225).
