Catawba’s Rob Fields Named Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba College's Rob Fields has been named the South Atlantic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 28, 2010.
Fields, a senior guard from Orangeburg, S.C. (Orangeburg-Wilkerson HS), had his best career game in the season finale at Brevard in leading Catawba to the conference championship, scoring a career-high 32 points on 10-of-12 shooting. He went 5-for-7 from three-point range and was a perfect 7-of-7 at the line. He scored all nine points in a 9-0 run the staked Catawba to a 21-12 which ignated a huge first half. He had 19 points in the opening half as the Indians raced to a 58-44 lead. Fields also added three assists and three steals in the win
On Wednesday, he scored 13 points and made 5-of-6 free throws in
the final minute to help Catawba secure the win over Carson-Newman.
For the week, Fields averaged 22.5 points and made 57 percent from
the field. He went 15-of-16 line and continues to lead the league
from the stripe.
