Lenoir-Rhyne’s Jones, Mars Hill’s Booker Take Home SAC Basketball Player of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. - In the final week of SAC basketball before the holiday break, Lenoir-Rhyne's Allan Jones and Mars Hill's Armeka Booker each led their teams to a pair of victories, earning the conference's Player of the Week honors, it was announced on Monday.
Jones came off the bench to lead L-R to an undefeated week by averaging 17.5 points and six rebounds in wins over Virginia Union and Elizabeth City St.
Against Virginia Union, Jones scored 21 points on seven-of-13 shooting and added five rebounds. The sophomore forward followed that up with a 14-point, six-rebound performance against Elizabeth City.
Jones is currently the Bears' second-leading scorer this season, averaging 12.1 points-per-game.
Booker, meanwhile, was key in Mars Hill's two victories last week, including a double-overtime thriller against Conference Carolina-leading North Greenville. The freshman had a huge game against NGU, posting a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds.
She also converted a free-throw attempt late in the first overtime that sent the game into a second extra period.
