Anderson’s Jones, Wingate’s Brown Earn SAC Basketball Weekly Awards

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Anderson guard Denzail Jones and Wingate guard Tiffany Brown have been named the SAC basketball Players of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Jones led Anderson to a pair of victories last week, keeping the Trojans atop the SAC men's basketball standings. On Wednesday against Newberry, the junior scored 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting, and also added five assists and three steals.

He then finished with 19 points, three assists and six steals on Saturday versus Catawba.

For the week, the Tuscaloosa, Ala., native shot 59.4-percent from the field and averaged 3.5 rebounds per-game.

On the women's side, Brown was key to a 2-0 week for Wingate, which is currently in a three-way tie for second in the conference standings. The senior filled up the box score in both games, averaging 14 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals in the Bulldogs' wins.

On Wednesday against Lenoir-Rhyne, Brown scored 13 points on five-of-eight shooting, then went for 15 points on four-of-six shooting on Saturday against Tusculum.

Brown finished four-of-five on three pointers for the week and made all six of her free-throw attempts.
