The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for the 2015 SAC Men's Basketball Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial won its third-straight South Atlantic Conference Regular-Season Championship as it captured the 2014-15 title. With the crown, the Railsplitters have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Championship, it was determined today as the Conference season concluded this afternoon. Lincoln Memorial finished the season with a 21-1 League record.
Carson-Newman, Newberry and Queens each finished with identical 13-9 League records. In the SAC tiebreaker scenario, Carson-Newman was 3-1 in series with Newberry and Queens to earn the No. 2 seed. Newberry swept the season series from Queens and will be the No. 3 seed, leaving Queens at No. 4. Wingate turned in a 12-10 record in SAC play and will be the No. 5 seed. Catawba and Coker each posted 11-11 League records. Catawba took both games from Coker to garner the No. 6 seed, leaving the Cobras at No. 7. Brevard and Anderson each turned in 10-12 SAC records. The Tornados and Trojans split their season series and had the same records against the teams that were seeded No. 1 through No. 4. Brevard swept its series against Wingate to break the tie and advance to the tournament as the No. 8 seed.
The 2015 South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Wednesday, March 4 before moving to Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on March 7 and 8. The South Atlantic Conference's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
