Catawba's Burwell Named South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Basketball Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Catawba guard Marcus Burwell has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during the final week of the 2020-21 regular season, the Conference announced today.

Burwell, a senior from Richmond, Va., led the Catawba Indians to a 2-0 record to close out the regular season last week with wins over Lenoir-Rhyne (91-80) and Wingate (84-78). He averaged 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and a steal for the week, while shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range. In Catawba's win over Lenoir-Rhyne he netted 23 points with nine rebounds, four assists, and a steal. He then dropped 30 points on Wingate, adding two rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block.

This is Burwell's first player of the week selection this season.
