Lincoln Memorial, Two Individuals Earn Selections to NCAA Men's Golf Championship
SAC champion Lincoln Memorial has been seeded 10th for the 2013 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Southeast Region Championship, while Wingate's Brian Denton and Newberry's Chandler Gruenemeier earned spots in the field as individuals.
INDIANAPOLIS – SAC champion Lincoln Memorial has been seeded 10th for the 2013 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Southeast Region Championship, while Wingate's Brian Denton and Newberry's Chandler Gruenemeier earned spots in the field as individuals.
In all, 80 teams and 32 individuals were selected to compete for the national title. The South/Southeast Super Regional will take place May 6-8 at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
LMU enters the championship having finished in the top 10 at 12 events this season, including team titles at the Tusculum Fall Classic, the Tusculum Invitational and the Food Lion SAC Championship. The Railsplitters have been led all season by SAC Player of the Year Jamie Chapman, who has a scoring average of 72.33.
Denton and Gruenemeier, meanwhile, earned two of the four Southeast Region individual selections. Denton has a stroke average of 73.3 with four top-five finishes this season, while Gruenemeier averaged 73 strokes per round and had two top-five performances.
