LMU Finishes 20th, Newberry’s Gruenemeier 13th at NCAA Men’s Golf South Regional
The final round of the 2013 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship South Regional was completed on Wednesday, with Lincoln Memorial finishing 20th as a team and Newberry’s Chandler Gruenemeier tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard.
HOWEY IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The final round of the 2013 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship South Regional was completed on Wednesday, with Lincoln Memorial finishing 20th as a team and Newberry's Chandler Gruenemeier tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard.
LMU - which won last month's SAC Championship - had with a three-day score of 936, paced by conference Player of the Year Jamie Chapman, who finished tied for 43rd after a final-round 74.
The Railsplitters' Rand Wasson tied for 84th in the tournament, Braden Galyon tied for 87th, Connor Froning tied for 100th and Garrett Metz tied for 105th.
Gruenemeier, meanwhile, shot a two-over 74 on Wednesday, finishing just one stroke shy of earning an individual selection to the national championship. He completed the three-day tournament at four-over par, which tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard.
Also competing as an individual at the regional was Wingate's Brian Denton, who shot an even-par 72 in the final round to finished tied for 28th at plus-seven.
Nova Southeastern won the team title at the regional with a three-day score of 855 and also had the top individual finisher – Ben Taylor – who shot three-under for the tournament.
