Wingate Sits Atop Field after Day One of SAC Men's Golf Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – After two rounds of play at the 2026 South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship, Wingate sits atop the team leaderboard with a two-round total of 574 (-2) at The Preserve at Verdae in Greenville, South Carolina on Sunday.
The Bulldogs used rounds of 291 and 283 to build a six-shot advantage over Lincoln Memorial, which is second at 580 (+4). Catawba is in third at 585 (+9), while Anderson and Carson-Newman are tied for fourth at 599 (+23).
Individually, Wingate's Lewis Beeden and Lincoln Memorial's Harry Dickins are tied for the lead at 138 (-6) through 36 holes. Beeden fired rounds of 66 and 72, while Dickins posted scores of 68 and 70.
Catawba's Paul Esnault, Catawba's Ilia Antoniadis, Anderson's Caden Olsommer and Wingate's Alfie Storer are all tied for third at 144 (E).
Lincoln Memorial's Ryan Gavin and Tusculum's Edward Linley are tied for seventh at 145 (+1), while Lincoln Memorial's Edward Mason sits ninth at 146 (+2). Wingate's Cole Rouse and Newberry's Fredrik Gannon are tied for 10th at 147 (+3).
Rounding out the top teams, Coker is sixth at 603 (+27), Tusculum is seventh at 608 (+32), Newberry is eighth at 611 (+35), while Lenoir-Rhyne and UVA Wise are tied for ninth at 615 (+39). Mars Hill is 11th at 677 (+101).
The top four teams following Monday's final round of stroke play will advance to Tuesday's medal match play semifinals, with the No. 1 seed facing the No. 4 seed and the No. 2 seed taking on the No. 3 seed for a spot in the championship match.
