The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week, Feb. 16
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Brevard's Adam Wiedemann was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Andy Reilly was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played Feb. 9-15, the League announced today.
Wiedemann, freshman from Brampton, Ontario, scored seven goals and dished out nine assists to lead the Tornados to a 2-0 record last week. He got his week started with two goals and four helpers in a 10-6 win over Shorter on Feb. 10. The attacker also collected a pair of ground balls in the win. Four days later vs. Emmanuel, Wiedemann notched five goals, five assists, five ground balls and caused two turnovers as the Tornados defeated the Lions, 18-5. The award is his first Offensive Player of the Week plaudit this season.
Reilly, a senior from Delmar, N.Y., notched 26 saves and a 70.3 save percentage in Brevard's two wins last week. At Shorter, the goal keeper saved 62.5 percent of the shots he faced to finish with 10 saves in the contest. He followed that effort with 16 saves and a 76.2 save percentage against Emmanuel. He posted 120:00 in goal and finished with a 5.5 goals against average for the Tornados in the two-game span. The honor is his first Defensive Player of the Week nod this season.
Also nominated for Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week: Dalton Cook (Catawba), Tylor Justin (Lincoln Memorial), Jack Grinewich (Mars Hill) and Tanner Kotch (Wingate).
