The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week, Mar. 2
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Mars Hill's Anthony Malcom was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Jack Grinewich was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played Feb. 23-Mar. 2, the League announced today.
Malcom, a senior from New Westminster, B.C., scored five goals and notched two assists to lead the Lions to a 15-7 win over League foe Catawba on March 1. Four of his five scores and both of his assists came during a 12-1 run to put the game away. Malcom fired nine shots in the contest and added three ground balls and two caused turnovers. The award is his first Offensive Player of the Week selection this season.
Grinewich, a senior from Colorado Springs, Colo., notched 13 saves in the Lions' win over Catawba. He faced 20 shots on goal to finish the contest with a save percentage of 65 percent. The award is his first Defensive Player of the Week nod this season.
Also nominated for Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week: Connor Kennedy (Catawba), Andrew Kransberger (Tusculum) and Ryan Vogrig (Wingate).
Also nominated for Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week: Alex Squires (Lenoir-Rhyne), Joe Medel (Lincoln Memorial) and Kevin Haggerty (Tusculum).
