The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Newberry attack Brady Kearnan has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Queens goalie Kyle Hornik has been named AstroTurf Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played February 11 through February 18, the Conference announced today.
Kearnan, a freshman from Courtice, Ontario, Canada, led the Wolves to a 2-0 record last week with a 19-4 win over Shorter and a 15-12 win over Chowan. He recorded a SAC record nine points in the win over Shorter, scoring eight goals with an assist, while scooping up three ground balls. He then netted four goals and dished out two assists for six points with three ground balls against Chowan. For the week Kearnan had 15 points on 12 goals and three assists with six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Hornik, a junior from Hillsborough, N.C., led the Royals to a 12-8 win over North Greenville last week. He recorded a career-high 16 saves, allowing just six goals in the win. He also had a save percentage of 72.7 percent.
This is Kearnan's first Offensive Player of the Week selection this season, and this is also Hornik's first Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.
