PC’s Wright and Mullner, C-N’s Frohock Named to Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Teams
CLINTON, SC - Presbyterian College senior defender Michael Wright (Surfside Beach, S.C.) and senior forward Justin Mullner (North Augusta, S.C.) have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District III men's soccer teams announced today. Wright was named to the first team while Mullner was selected to the second team.
The 11-member first and 12-member second teams are selected by voting members of the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in the district. Each member of the first team including Wright will represent the district on the CoSIDA Academic All-American ballot.
In the classroom, Wright carries a 4.00 GPA while majoring in History and Political Science. He has been named to school's President's List (4.0 GPA) for six straight semesters as well as being the Student Body President during the 03-04 school year. In addition, he has also been named the SC Independent College Student of the Year for the year 2004 and South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's soccer. He is a Rhodes Scholar Nominee as well as a Pi Kappa Phi National Scholar, a Truman Scholar Finalist, a member of Sigma Kappa Alpha Honor Society, Order of Omega Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society, and Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society. Wright was also honored with the PC Student Leader of the Year Award and PC Parents Council Leadership award. Wright has lettered three years in soccer as well as one year in football.
Mullner carries a 3.30 GPA while majoring in Biology. He has named to the school's Dean's List (3.2 GPA) for three semesters and named to the South Atlantic Academic Honor Roll for three straight years. In addition, he is a member of the school's Beta Beta Beta Honor Society and was selected to school's Freshmen Honors Seminar. On the field, Mullner finished the season with 18 total points on seven goals and four assists.
The Blue Hose defense finished second in the SAC in goals against average this season. The Blue Hose, under the direction of head coach Bret Boulware, compiled a 9-9-0 overall record and finished in sixth place in the SAC regular season standings.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman senior Kyle Frohock (Franklin, Tenn.) has been named to the 2004 CoSIDA College Division Academic All-District IV Men's Soccer team.
Frohock has excelled in the classroom as well as on the field. He has a 3.86 grade point average in Management. He is a team leader for the number-three ranked team in the nation in NCAA Division II. Frohock is a member of the Carson-Newman Dean's List and SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester for four years and is the recipient of the Kelley J. Tollett Scholarship at C-N. He is a Presidential Scholar and enrolled in the C-N Honors Program and was named the Carson-Newman Student-Athlete of the Year for men's soccer the past two seasons. The Franklin, Tenn.-native is a member of the Philosophy Committee at Carson-Newman as well.
In the community, Frohock led worship at Cross Point Baptist Church last summer and is active in the Carson-Newman Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He leads a Bible study on campus and is a mentor of local club team for kids.
Members of the Academic All-District team are voted on by
members of the College Sports Information Directors of America in
District IV which include colleges and universities in the states
of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. Frohock will
now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-American
consideration.
