Lincoln Memorial 2nd, Wingate 25th in NSCAA Preseason Men’s Soccer Poll
HARROGATE, TN - With the 2008 season only a few days away, the Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team is set to defend it's two year run as Appalachian Region Champions and last year's South Atlantic Conference regular season and conference tournament titles. The Railsplitters have been ranked No. 2 nationally in the National Soccer Coaches Association of American preseason poll.
While the Railsplitters lost seven senior starters from a year ago, an excellent recruiting class has LMU Head Coach Helio D'Anna excited about his team's prospects this season. "We have had a great recruiting year and will field a very talented team," says D'Anna. "Our preseason trip to Brazil should help the team bond in preparation for the opener against Delta State on August 28."
Last season the Railsplitters finished the year with a 20-4-1 record, the most wins in a single season by any Railsplitter soccer team in the history of the program and finished as NCAA Division II National Runner-up.
Wingate University starts the season ranked No. 25.
