Wingate’s Figuiera, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Alequine Named SAC Soccer Players of the Week
Wingate midfielder Pedro Figuiera and Lenoir-Rhyne midfielder Garcelle Alequine have been selected as the SAC Soccer Players of the Week after leading their respective teams to 2-0 records.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Wingate midfielder Pedro Figuiera and Lenoir-Rhyne midfielder Garcelle Alequine have been selected as the SAC Soccer Players of the Week after leading their respective teams to 2-0 records.
SAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week | Pedro Figuiera, Wingate
Fiquiera scored a pair of goals last week as Wingate improved to 3-1 in the SAC with victories over Catawba and Tusculum. Against Catawba, he broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 21st-minute in a match that the Bulldogs went on to win 3-1.
Fiquiera then scored the only goal of WU's contest with Tusculum on Sunday, heading in a cross in the 28th minute. The goals were the senior's first two of the season. He has started six of the Bulldogs' seven matches.
SAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week | Garcelle Alequine, Lenoir-Rhyne
Alequine finished with two goals and two assists in Lenoir-Rhyne's wins over Coker and Lincoln Memorial last week. She opened her week by tallying two assists in L-R's 3-0 victory against Coker on Wednesday.
The sophomore followed that up with a pair of goals in the first half on Saturday in a 3-1 Bears victory over LMU.
Alequine currently ranks tied for second in the SAC with four assists and fifth in points with 10.
