ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Mars Hill goalkeeper Chris Mitchell has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Sept. 22-28, the League announced today.
Mitchell, a junior from Creedmoor, N.C., posted 13 saves to lead the Lions to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins last week. He got his week started with 11 saves as Mars Hill defeated then No. 20 Lincoln Memorial, 2-1, on Sept. 24. Three days later at Anderson, Mitchell turned away a pair of Trojan shots to lead Mars Hill to a 1-0 win. The honor is his first Player of the Week selection this season.
Also nominated for Men's Soccer Player of the Week: Kavi Luchowa (Carson-Newman), Jordan Snell (Coker), Ben Meredith (Lenoir-Rhyne), Ryan Ejezie (Queens) and Shaun Gadsby (Wingate).
