ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Mars Hill defender Brayhan Yrio has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Oct. 6-Oct. 12, the League announced today.
Yrio, a junior from Villers-Les-Nancy, France, scored two goals on three shots to lead Mars Hill to a 2-0 record last week, with wins over Lenoir-Rhyne and Coker. On Oct. 11, Yrio lead the Lions to a 3-2 victory over Coker as he scored two goals, including the game winner in double overtime. Yrio's first goal in the contest came off a cross from Kenny Anderson to bring the Lions level at 1-1 in the 22nd minute. His second goal was the match-winner beating the goalie in the 109th minute in the double-overtime contest. The honor marks his first Player of the Week nod this season.
Also nominated for Men's Soccer Player of the Week: Magnus Larsen (Anderson), Marius Staalby (Carson-Newman), Ben Meredith (Lenoir-Rhyne) and Roberto Pimentel (Tusculum).
