The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, Oct. 5
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate midfielder Shaun Gadsby has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Sept. 28 – Oct. 4, the League announced today.
Gadsby, a senior from Newcastle, England, helped keep the No. 16 Bulldogs undefeated by leading them to a 2-0 week on the road, scoring two critical goals. The midfielder scored both of Wingate's goals in its 2-1 victory over Lincoln Memorial in a big South Atlantic Conference match-up. At the 46th minute, Gadsby found the back of the net off a quick pass from Charlie Mitchell to tie the game 1-1, scoring his second goal of the season. Thirty minutes later, off a direct free kick from outside of the box on the right hand side, Gadsby scored the game-winning goal, making the Bulldogs the last remaining unbeaten team in the SAC. Against ninth-ranked Limestone on Sept. 30, Gadsby helped Wingate hold the Saints to one goal in a big 3-1 regional road win. Gadsby leads the League in assists with five and ranks fifth for points at 11. The award is his first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
