The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the week of Sept. 25 through Oct. 1. Queens's Adam Ward was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Tusculum's Alejandro Quiriti was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
A senior forward from Birmingham, England, Ward entered the lineup in the 33rd minute of action in the 4-1 victory at Coker. Within a minute, Ward tallied the tying goal. His offensive charge picked up strength when he buried his second and third goals in under 11 minutes on the pitch. After completing his hat trick, Ward found a teammate for the remaining goal, giving him seven points in the contest, all within the first half. This is Ward's first Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Quiriti, a native of Mar del Plata, Argentina, recorded his third shutout of the season in the 4-0 win over Catawba in the Pioneers' lone match of the week. In his fourth career blank slate, the junior goalkeeper needed just one save to go the distance. This is Quiriti's second Defensive Player of the Week award this season.
