The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during week nine of the 2019 season.  Wingate forward Paul Ngongo was named the offensive player of the week, while Carson-Newman defender Kensho Yoshikoshi was named defensive player of the week.

Ngongo, a freshman from Copenhagen, Denmark, led Wingate to a 1-1 record last week, including a 2-2 tie with Carson-Newman. He scored two goals in a non-conference game against Salem, while adding the game-tying goal against Carson-Newman later in the week. For the week he had three goals and six points. This is Ngongo's third offensive player of the week honor this season.

Yoshikoshi, a senior from Tokyo, Japan, anchored the Eagle defense while helping lead Carson-Newman to a 2-2 tie against Wingate. In addition to helping hold the Bulldogs to just two goals, Yoshikoshi also scored a goal, the fifth of his career. This is his first defensive player of the week award of the season.
