The South Atlantic Conference Announces Men's Soccer Preseason Poll and All-Conference Teams
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate has been tabbed the South Atlantic Conference favorite for the 2021 men's soccer season, the conference announced today. The Bulldogs collected 10 first-place votes and 131 total points, as voted by the league's head men's soccer coaches.
The Bulldogs won the 2021 SAC Men's Soccer Spring Tournament Championship and finished the spring with a 7-1-1 record.
Lenoir-Rhyne claimed the No. 2 spot with 119 points and a first place vote. Carson-Newman earned the No. 3 ranking with 114 and one first place vote, while Anderson was picked to finish at No. 4 with 97 total points. Limestone came in at No. 5 with 92 points, and Queens followed at No. 6 with 80 points.
Lincoln Memorial slides into the No. 7 spot with 72 points and Mars Hill was tabbed No. 8 with 63 points. Tusculum came in at No. 9 with 48 points and Coker earned the No. 10 ranking with 39 points. Rounding out the poll were Newberry at No. 11 with 38 points and Catawba at No. 12 with 31 points.
In addition to the 2021 SAC Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, the 2021 SAC Men's Soccer Preseason All-Conference teams were also announced. Voted on by the league's media relations directors, the preseason all-conference teams feature six players from Carson-Newman, Lenoir-Rhyne, and Wingate, three players from Anderson, two players from Mars Hill and Queens, and one player from Limestone.
The 2021 SAC men's soccer season will get underway on Wednesday, September 1.
