The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during the second week of the 2021 season. Anderson forward Alexandre Cox-Ashwood was named the offensive player of the week, while Coker goalkeeper Jasper Rump was named defensive player of the week.
Cox-Ashwood, a senior from Wittenheim, France, led the Trojans to a pair of non-conference victories over Mount Olive (3-2) and Lander (5-2). He scored two goals in the win over Mount Olive and added a hat trick and an assist to his weekly total in the win over Lander. For the week, Cox-Ashwood finished with five goals and an assist for 11 points.
Rump, a freshman from Buxtehude, Germany, led the No. 15 Cobras to a pair of non-conference shutout victories against Belmont Abbey (1-0) and Erskine (4-0). He made six saves and earned the clean sheet against Belmont Abbey, while picking up three more saves and a second shutout against Erskine. For the week he had nine saves in 180 minutes of action.
