Wingate's Wisniewski Named 2024 SAC Men's Swimming Scholar-Athlete of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Jack Wisniewski was voted the 2024 South Atlantic Conference Men's Swimming Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the Conference office announced Monday (March 18).
The South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each of the Conference's championship sports and is voted on by the SAC's Faculty Athletic Representatives Committee. The winners are selected based on their achievements in academics, athletics, service, and leadership.
Wisniewski, a senior from Goldsboro, N.C., holds a 4.00 grade point average while studying sport management and is set to graduate in just three years. He is a five-time Wingate University's President's List honoree, a five-time CSCAA Scholar All-American team member, and a two-time CSCAA Scholar-All American honorable mention. Wisniewski was named to the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll during the inaugural season of SAC Swimming in 2022-23. He is also a member of Alpha Chi, a national honor society that recognizes the top 10 percent of the junior and senior classes.
Wisniewski is a two-time South Atlantic Conference Champion, as the Bulldogs have swept the conference title the past two seasons of the Championship's existence. In the 2024 SAC Swimming Championship, he earned All-South Atlantic Conference honors with a third-place finish in the 400 Individual Medley, recording a time of 3:57.72 while collecting an NCAA DII B cut in the event. Wisniewski also competed in the A final of the 200 Individual Medley (1:52.27, 5th) and 200 Breaststroke (2:04.27, 4th).
At the inaugural 2023 SAC Swimming Championship, Wisniewski recorded a top-eight finish in four events, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 400 Individual Medley. His time of 3:56.91 earned him an NCAA DII B cut and placed him in Wingate's career top 10 for the event. In his first season as a Bulldog, he competed in four events at the 2022 Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship, earning All-Bluegrass Mountain Conference honors in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:50.81 and collecting an NCAA DII B cut in the 400 IM (3:59.80).
Outside of the pool, Wisniewski is extremely active in the Wingate community. For the past three years, he has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and served as a Bible Study Leader at Provision Church where he is actively involved in group worship, teaching, musical performance and various fellowship activities. Wisniewski is also a volunteer coach with the Goldsboro YMCA Sharks swim team, coaching and training swimmers seasonally.
