LMU’s Hannes Ganss Named Men’s Tennis Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Lincoln Memorial University's Hannes Ganss has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending March 2, 2010.
Ganss, a senior from Erlangen, Germany, won six matches last week and helped the Railsplitters equal their best start since the 2006 season with wins over Wingate University, Catawba College and University of the Cumberlands.
Ganss defeated Wingate's Bruno Pudence, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, then teamed with Bastian Guenther for a 9-8 (7-2) win over Braeden Patchell/Matthew Lichtenstein at No. 2 doubles.
Against Catawba, Ganss defeated Alex MacDonald, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Ganns and Guenther defeated Tom McCormack and Uri Yarkoni, 9-8 (7-3) at No. 2 doubles.
Ganss defeated Cumberlands' Higor Silva 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1
singles. Ganss and Guenther defeated John Hill and Andrew Hill,
8-3, at No. 2 doubles.
Ganss is 5-0 on the season in singles play and 3-2 in doubles.
