LMU’s Hoffmann, Catawba’s Renteria Earn SAC Tennis Weekly Awards
Lincoln Memorial senior Philipp Hoffmann and Catawba freshman Liz Renteria have been named the SAC Tennis Players of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lincoln Memorial senior Philipp Hoffmann and Catawba freshman Liz Renteria have been named the SAC Tennis Players of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Hoffmann led LMU to a pair of conference victories last week by going a perfect 4-0 combined in singles and doubles play.
Hoffman opened the week by picking up a pair of wins in the Railsplitters' 5-4 win over Anderson. He beat AU's Daniel Gonzalez, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 1 singles position, and got an 8-4 doubles win with partner Alexey Minevskiy over the Trojans' Abdoulaye Camara and Jerome Branker in the No. 1 match.
The Kalsruhe, Germany native was also dominant in LMU's 6-3 Sunday win at Lenoir-Rhyne. He beat L-R's David Richardson, 6-2, 6-2, playing at No. 1 singles, and again teamed with Minevskiy to handle Filip Dobrosavljevic and Kilian Symalla, 8-3, in the No. 1 doubles match.
Hoffmann is now 5-0 in singles play and 3-2 in doubles matches on the season.

Renteria, meanwhile, won four singles matches and two doubles contests for Catawba last week as the Indians went 3-1 as a team.
Renteria was perfect at the No. 1 singles position last week, getting wins over Carson-Newman's Stefy Stand, Tenn. Wesleyan's Ekaterina Vazhenkova, Mount Olive's Molly Sue Lentini and St. John Fisher's Katie Pasier.
The Mirimar, Fla.,native's doubles victories came alongside teammate Sloan Kessler at the No. 1 position against Carson-Newman's Stefy Stand and Patricia and St. John Fisher's Katie Pasier and Jenna Lerner.
In her first year on campus, Renteria is 13-2 in singles matches and 7-7 in doubles play so far this season.
