SAC Selects LMU's Hoffmann, Tusculum's Mills as Tennis Players of the Week
Lincoln Memorial senior Philipp Hoffmann and Tusculum freshman Erin Mills have been voted as the SAC Tennis Players of the Week after leading their respective teams to key conference victories, it was announced on Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lincoln Memorial senior Philipp Hoffmann and Tusculum freshman Erin Mills have been voted as the SAC Tennis Players of the Week after leading their respective teams to key conference victories, it was announced on Monday.
Hoffmann helped the LMU men go 2-1 as a team by winning all three of his singles matches and going 2-1 in doubles action. Playing at the No. 1 singles position, Hoffman recorded wins over Brevard's Johannes Kloster, Wingate's Kennedy Cancelado and Carson-Newman's Sebastian Perez. All three victories came in straight sets.
Hoffmann also played No. 1 doubles with partner Alexey Minevskiy, tallying wins over Brevard's Kloster and David Taggart and Carson-Newman's duo of Perez and Austin Mackay.
As a team, LMU beat Brevard and Carson-Newman and fell to Wingate. On the season, Hoffmann is 11-2 in singles matches and 6-5 in doubles play.

Mills, meanwhile, led the Tusculum women to a pair of wins over Carson-Newman and Newberry, moving the Pioneers into sole possession of second place in the SAC standings with two matches remaining. Mills went a combined 4-0 at No. 3 singles at No. 2 doubles.
On Saturday against Carson-Newman, Mills defeated Haleigh Chastain 6-1, 6-1 in singles before teaming with Taylor Patterson to top the C-N duo of Chastain and Jennifer Ott, 8-5. The following day versus Newberry, Mills won in singles action against Ariel Strong, 6-2, 6-4, and again teamed with Patterson to blank the Wolves' Strong and Tara Lamers, 8-0.
Mills is now 12-4 in singles play and a combined 14-3 in doubles contests this season.
