Five SAC Men's Tennis Teams, Eight Singles Players and Two Doubles Teams Ranked in Latest Oracle/ITA Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) releaed its latest Oracle/ITA Division II Men's Tennis Top 50 national ranking on Wednesday (March 20). Wingate earned the No. 5 spot in the ranking, followed by Queens at No. 24, Tusculum entered the ranking at No. 35, with Catawba taking the No. 43 spot and Lenoir-Rhyne rounding out the ranking of South Atlantic Conference teams at No. 48.
The Bulldogs are 9-2 overall, with a 4-0 record in SAC play, while Queens is 6-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Tusculum is 8-2 overall and is 3-0 in the SAC, with Catawba holding a 9-4 overall record and a 2-1 SAC record. Lenoir-Rhyne is 12-2 overall and 3-1 in conference.
In addition to the national team ranking, the ITA also released its Oracle/ITA Top 75 singles ranking and Top 50 doubles ranking.
Newberry's Edison Ambarzumjan is the top ranked singles player at No. 7, while Wingate's Daniel Belsito is ranked No. 25 and Anderson's Ignacio Bidegain is No. 27. Tusculum's David Akinpetide earned the No. 33 ranking, with Queens' Agustin Aran coming in at No. 45. Coker's Melwin Krall earned the No. 58 ranking, followed by Lincoln Memorial's Xavier Marti at No. 67 and Tusculum's Yago Fernandez at No. 70.
Earning the No. 26 spot in the doubles ranking is Wingate's team of Daniel Belsito and Josep Canyadell, followed by Anderson's Spencer Brown and Adam Kush at No. 34.
