ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Luke Greer was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, while Tusculum's Guillaume Devries was named AstroTurf Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested January 21 through January 27, the Conference office announced today.
Greer, a senior from Northampton, England, took home a pair of first place finishes and set two school records in the process at the Finn Pincus Invitational last week. Greer posted a time of 4:20.92 in the mile and 1:57.88 in the 800-meter run. Both times broke the previous top marks at Carson-Newman.
Devries, a junior from Valenciennes, France, earned an NCAA Division II provisional mark and took home first place honors in the high jump at the Liberty Kick-Off Invitational last week. He cleared a height of 2.10 meters earning his second victory in three meets this season, while also taking the No. 2 spot in the SAC rankings.
This is Greer's second Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, while this also marks the second Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for Devries.
