Record Breaking Performances Highlight Day One of 2020 SAC Indoor Track & Field Championships
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (TheSAC.com) – Eight South Atlantic Conference men's and women's indoor track & field records were broken during the opening day of competition at the 2020 SAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Saturday (Feb. 29).
Wingate's Javon Graham broke the first record of the day when he shattered the men's 60-meter hurdles record finishing in 7.94 seconds. Carson-Newman's Devon Moore broke the men's 60-meter dash record with a time of 6.74 seconds.
Jenny Koehne of Queens broke the first women's record of the day, completing the women's 200-meter dash in 25.33 seconds. Koehne also broke the women's 60-meter hurdle record with a time of 8.71 seconds, but she wasn't done yet as she set a new women's long jump record of 5.97 meters.
Carson-Newman's Christian Shouse set a new men's long jump record of 7.36 meters and Queens' To'Mara Carmichael won the women's weight throw with a record-breaking toss of 17.71 meters.
The final record of the day fell in the second to last event of the day, as Tusculum's women's distance medley relay team won the DMR with a time of 12:43.08.
Queens leads the way in the women's team results with 65 points, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne with 58 points, Carson-Newman with 25 points, and Tusculum in fourth with 22 points.
In the men's meet, Queens leads the way with 57 points, followed by a Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate in a tie for second with 35 points each and Carson-Newman in fourth with 27 points.
