The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com)– Tusculum's Widchard Guervil was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Carson-Newman's Christian Shouse was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested during the second week of the indoor track & field season, the Conference office announced today. 

Guervil, a senior sprinter from Fort Myers, Fla., was named Men's Track Athlete of the Meet at the ETSU Invitational after winning the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.74 seconds and placing second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.46 seconds; allowing him to earn his second NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark of the season in the 200.

After missing the 2021 indoor season due to injury, Shouse, a sophomore multi from Jacksboro, Tenn., clenched the first place title in the men's long jump at the ETSU Invitational with a jump of 7.00 meters, beating out eight Division I athletes. 

This award is Guervil's second Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Shouse's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
