ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Queens' Elijah Inuwa was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Queens' Anton Epp was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets contested April 9-15, the League office announced today.
Inuwa, a junior distance runner from Waxhaw, N.C., took first place in the 800-meters at Elon University's Phoenix Invitational with a season-best time of 1:51.73. The improved NCAA mark ranks him No. 20 in Division II and No. 1 in the conference. Inuwa also ran a leg of the 4x400-meter relay where Queens finished second with a program-record time of 3:18.28.
Epp, a graduate student from Karlsruhe, Germany, jumped 7.37 meters in the long jump, breaking his previous program record of 7.34 meters, and notching a new NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Epp finished first at the Elon University's Phoenix Invitational and is now ranked No. 11 nationally and No. 1 in the South Atlantic Conference.
This is Inuwa's first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season, and it is Epp's first Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
