Lincoln Memorial's Hughes Named 2019 SAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Elite 20 Winner
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial's sophomore sprinter Jonathan Hughes was honored as the 2019 Elite 20 Award winner for men's outdoor track & field, presented by the South Atlantic Conference on Saturday, April 20.
This award honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average (based on a minimum of 48 credit hours) in each of the league's 20 team championship sports.
Hughes, a sophomore from Andersonville, Tenn., has a 3.941 GPA while majoring in business management, completing 76 credit hours.
Heading into the championship weekend, Hughes ran his outdoor personal-best in the 400 meter at the Lenoir-Rhyne Classic in a time of 52.61 seconds. At the Lenoir-Rhyne Southside Power & Fitness Invitational, he beat his personal-record in the 1,500 meter, crossing the line in 4:35.35.
