Lenoir-Rhyne’s Belk, Wingate’s Blankenship Named Softball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne's Noel Belk and Wingate's Brittany Blankenship have been named South Atlantic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, league officials announced today.
Lenoir-Rhyne second baseman Noel Belk (Charlotte, N.C.) batted .471 for the week, going 8-for-17 with two RBIs. The junior also scored five times, leading L-R to three wins on the week. The Charlotte native picked up three pitching decisions as well, posting a 2-1 record with a 2.84 ERA.
Wingate freshman pitcher Brittany Blankenship (Midlothian, Va.) turned in a 3-0 week, allowing only four runs in 20.2 innings of work. She started both games in a mid-week doubleheader against Belmont-Abbey, picking up both wins, striking out 11.
