Lincoln Memorial’s Mulkey, Mars Hill’s West Named Softball Players Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lincoln Memorial University's Brianna Mulkey has been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week and Mars Hill College's Tara West earned league Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending February 7, announced conference officials Tuesday.

Mulkey, a freshman from Kettering, Ohio (Fairmont HS), hit an average of .500 as LMU opened its season with a sweep of Milligan. She went 4-8 at the plate while scoring three runs. She was also 4-4 in stolen bases. In the second game she had an inside the park home run.

West, a senior from Urbana, Ohio, opened the season for Mars Hill with an 8-0 victory over Virginia Intermont. She allowed only one hit in six innings while striking out eight batters.
