LMU’s Meghan LaFevor, Brevard’s Martika Elmore Named Softball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lincoln Memorial University's Meghan LaFevor has been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week and Brevard College's Martika Elmore earned league Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending February 21, announced conference officials Tuesday.
LaFevor, a sophomore outfielder and pitcher from Columbia, Tenn. (Spring Hill HS), helped lead the Lady Railsplitters to a 4-0 week with wins over Concord and Salem International. At the plate she hit .889 with eight hits on nine at-bats. She also scored seven runs and had seven RBIs. She was perfect on four stolen base attempts. In the pitching circle LaFevor had a .000 ERA with one shutout. She only allowed four hits with no walks and eleven strikeouts while improving her record to 4-0 on the season.
Elmore, a senior pitcher from Fayetteville, N.C. (UNC-Pembroke), ended the week with a 0.61 ERA while leading the Tornados to a 5-1 record. She went 2-1 and threw 23 innings in three games for Brevard. She had 35 strikeouts, averaging 11.7 punchouts per game. She recorded 16 strikeouts in a 2-0 shutout against Columbia College. She allowed just two earned runs in the 23 innings of work for the Tornados. Elmore is one of the conference leaders in strikeouts with 58 in just 41 innings of work. Her earned run average for the season is 0.68, as she has surrendered just six runs, four earned all season.
