The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played during Feb. 11 through Feb. 17. Carson-Newman's Abby Fiessinger earned player accolades, while Coker's Jordyn Goodman garnered pitching honors.
A junior infielder, Fiessinger went 8-for-9 over a three-game span, with all eight happening in successive fashion. The Benton, Ky. native needs only two more to become the 21st player in NCAA Division II history to achieve double-digit consecutive hits. In the three wins, Fiessinger collected a double, two homeruns, and knocked in five runners for a batting average of .889, an on-base percentage of .889, and a slugging percentage of 1.667. This is Fiessinger's first Player of the Week honor of the season.
In just her second collegiate appearance, Goodman, a freshman left-handed pitcher, tossed a perfect game in the 14-0 win over Trinity Baptist. The Arubtus, Md. native is the third Cobra and third SAC pitcher all-time to earn the feat. In the five-inning outing, Goodman struck out four Eagles and added three assists in the field. This is Goodman's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
