Anderson Sweeps AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played during March 4 through March 10. Anderson garnered both player and pitcher honors with Mattie Hamilton and Kayla Pepper, respectively.

A junior catcher, Hamilton helped the Trojans go 4-0 on the week, sweeping Southern Wesleyan and Johnson C. Smith. The Perry, Ga. native batted .500 with an on-base percentage of .583 and a slugging percentage of 1.400. Hamilton finished with five hits (a double, a triple, and two homeruns) while driving in eight runners. This is Hamilton's first Player of the Week honor of the season.

Pepper, a sophomore left-handed pitcher, finished the week with a spotless 0.00 earned run average in her two complete-game wins, shutting out both Southern Wesleyan (9-0) and Johnson C. Smith (8-0). In 10 innings of action, the Anderson, S.C. native allowed only four hits and one walk while striking out 15. This is Pepper's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
