The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Softball Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played in the second weekend of the 2021 season. Newberry's Hannah Towery earns the Player honor while Anderson's Laken Maxwell earns the Pitcher honor.

A senior utility player, Towery, helped lead the Wolves to a sweep over non-conference opponent Georgia College this past weekend. Overall, the Chapin, S.C., native averaged a .556 batting average, going 4-for-8 from the plate with one homerun and three runs scored. This is Towery's first Player of the Week honor of the season.

Maxwell, a freshman pitcher, was an instrumental part in the Trojans sweep over North Greenville this past Saturday. Overall, she went eight innings allowing just three hits, two walks and striking out 10. This is Maxwell's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
