The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week for games played in the eleventh weekend of the 2021 season. Wingate's Laney McLaurin earns the Player honor while Lincoln Memorial's Emma Frost earns the Pitcher of the Week honors.
A freshman first baseman McLaurin, was an instrumental part in helping the Bulldogs to a 4-1 record this past week. Overall, the Laurinburg, N.C., native averaged a .429 batting average, going 3-for-7 from the plate with a 1.714 slugging percentage, nine RBI's, five runs scored and three homeruns. This is McLaurin's first Player of the Week honor of the season.
Frost, a sophomore pitcher helped the Railsplitters to a 3-0 record this past weekend after playing all seven innings in the first two games and 2.1 in the final game. Overall, the Morristown, Tenn., native went 16.1 innings with 13 hits and zero walks, while striking out 20. This is Frost's second Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
