Lincoln Memorial's Pozzuto and Wingate's Cutcher Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial's Katy Pozzuto was selected as the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Softball Player of the Week, while Wingate's Raechel Cutcher was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week eleven of the 2023 season, the Conference office announced today.
Pozzuto, a junior from Lancaster, Ky., collected five doubles and 10 RBI to lead Lincoln Memorial to a 3-1 week. She had a batting average of .636 and a slugging percentage of 1.091 on the week. Pozzuto leads the team in hits (47) and RBI (42) while ranking second in batting average (.343) as the starting first baseman.
Cutcher, a senior from Orlando, Fla., made three appearances, allowing just three runs in 16 innings of work for a 1.31 ERA, striking out 11 without walking a batter, and giving up just eight hits. She notched a four-inning save at Catawba, allowing just one hit. She then tossed a two-hit shutout against Mars Hill, striking out six in six innings of work.
